Milk Vendors of Kota (Rajasthan, India)

Recently I had a chance to visit Kota, a town in the Rajasthan State of India, to attend MUNDAN (complete shaving of hair on the head for the first time in life) ceremony of one of the nephews of my wife. I observed that the milk supply to the house of my reletives, where we were attending the ceremony, was being made by colourfully attired local milk vendors. This prompted me to click a picture of the milk vendor, and thankfully, he was too happy to allow the photograph and even made a 'princely' pose for my camera. The picture is attached below. The colourful turban and milkware made up of Peetal metal (as Brass is locally called) were a treat to watch.

Later I came across many of such milk vendors on the streets of the city, busy in distribution of milk, from the nearby villages to various homes of the city. It was a phenomenon in itself. Two of such milk vendors, whom we encountered on way to Gardiya Mahadev on the outskirts of Kota, also made a nice picture. These vendors were going home with a hard earned booty loaded on their motorcycles on way back home after selling and distributing milk. The only difference was that these men had safely kept their colourful turbans and instead worn 'polythene bags' to escape getting their heads wet due to expected rain. It rained so heavily thereafter that we were not able to see anything through the windshield of our car.

My Photo StoryBook

I am an amateur photographer, growing day by day. I have been capturing various moments which I come across during routine life, while just passing by or during a formal visit to certain place. A no. of such pics taken by me have been appreciated by friends and alike. Every pic which I take, tells me a story. I thought of sharing these pics alongwith the associated story so that others may benefit from my pictorial experiences. Each one of these experiences are unique and worth documenting. I am sure that this blog will help me in achieving my goal and realising my desire.
